We
had another fun show again this week with lots of comments from listeners about
the music. Many indicated they had not heard some songs in years. It's always
my pleasure to play great music on the show for you. I received remarks from
folks about playing You Met Your Match
by Stevie Wonder, one hardly heard
anymore. Someone else commented how great is was to hear Bobby Womack's Lookin' For A
Love, one of my R&B favourites too. Another song that generated talk in
the Chat Room was Machine Gun by The Commodores, their debut single and one of the infrequent instrumentals
from Motown. If you have a song you'd like to hear on the show or have some
thoughts you'd like to share about a song you heard, let me know. Call or Click. The Listener Line is available for your calls 24/7 at 206-339-0709. And you can Click the Requests Button on any page of the
website.
And
be sure to make you calendar for our next special, the Annual One Hit Wonders Special, the week of April 8th. Not so surprisingly, there were a ton of artists and
groups who only scored one hit on the Billboard Top 100 charts. We'll play many
of them throughout the four hours. This is one of the most enjoyed specials of
the year; I hope you'll join me.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to long
time listener and Chat Room regular, Rich
Howe in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Best wishes also go out to
Tom Locke, the creator and writer of
our weekly feature, Moment In Time.
Last but certainly not least, Red
Robinson, the pioneer disc jockey and member of many Halls of Fame
including the Rock & Roll Hall of
Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, is also having a birthday. My best
wishes to you all. If you have a birthday coming up, be sure to let me know.
Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com
and I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and play Birthday, our
official birthday song by The Beatles, for you.
The
Treasure Island Oldies Blog is
playing the Box Tops with their Gold
record Cry Like A Baby. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!
Voice Your Choice features another group
from the British Invasion era, The
Searchers, with two of their hits for your votes: Don't Throw Your Love Away and Needles
And Pins. Which song would you like me to play? Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page and we'll play the winning song in the 3rd hour of next week's
show.
I've
had several listeners let me know how pleased they are to be able to listen to
the show while they are on the go via their smartphones by using the Tune In Radio app. You can listen to
the latest show, the Rock & Roll
News Podcasts, and the live show as well. Get more out of your iPhone or other smartphone with the Tune In Radio app, available at iTunes.
Speaking
of the Rock & Roll News, I am
pleased and honoured that the podcast of this weekly feature is now among the
Top 1000 Podcasts in the world! Thank You!
Hope
you have a great week. See you on next week's show.
Bye
for now.
