Frankie Avalon was born Francis Avallone on September 18, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This singer from the City of Brotherly Love got an early start in 1953 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and by the mid-1950s singing on radio and TV with Paul Whiteman. He also played trumpet and in 1956 he played with Rocco & His Saints. That group also included Bobby Rydell.
During his highly successful solo artist recording career, he appeared 31 times on the Billboard charts between 1958 and 1962. And he also appeared in the movies Jamboree!, Guns Of The Timberland,and The Alamo. He later become owner of Frankie Avalon Products, a line of health supplement products.
