This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of July 6th, 2014

July 6th, 2014 to July 12th, 2014

It was great to get together once again this week on Treasure Island Oldies.  There was a temporary outage at the network that caused the live stream to stop working with about 35 minutes remaining in the show. Fortunately the entire show was able to be saved and is now available at the Archive page.

I was pleasantly surprised with the reaction when I played Frankie Laine and Vic Damone for this week’s Lounge Double. Folks were saying when they first heard it, how old they were and just how great it was to hear Moonlight Gambler and On The Street Where You Live once again. That’s the power of music!

Be sure to listen to the Technicolor Special coming up July 20. The show will be filled with songs of every colour and hue. If you’d like to hear a specific colour song, be sure to let me know. Click Requests on any page of the website or Call the Listener Line at 206-339-0709 and leave your voicemail message for me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Bobbi Gutman in Richmond, British Columbia and also to my son David Godin, also celebrating his birthday this week. If your own birthday is approaching, please let me know. I’d love to wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is playing a classic hit by Motown Records stars Martha & The Vandellas. They’re doing a live vocal performance of Nowhere To Run. It’s our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice is presenting the pride of New Orleans, Lee Dorsey. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Ya Ya or Working In A Coal Mine. I’ll play the winner on next week’s show in the 3rd hour.

Well, that’s it for this week. Keep on enjoying your summer. It’ll pass much too quickly not to take some time to relax.

Bye for now.
