November
2nd, 2014 to November 8th, 2014
I thought I would play a few songs that had “time” in the title as a
result of turning back the clocks by one hour. When I was preparing the
playlist I discovered just how many songs related to time. What came about was
an entire show filled with songs about time, resulting in the Timely Tunes Special. And thank you for
the many comments in the Chat Room,
email and on my Facebook page. If
you missed the Live show, be sure to check out the Archive at the Listen page.
Speaking of feedback, thanks you for the great comments regarding the 18th Annual Halloween
Spooktacular as well as your mentions of how you like the Halloween
decorations on the website this year. My thanks to Eddy Fisher, our creative webmaster, for making it all look so fun
and spooky.
Mark your calendar for our next special when Pop Goes The Country hits the Island Sunday, November 16th for the Live show and, as usual, at the Listen page click Archives. This
special will feature country tunes that crossed over to the pop charts like Crazy, Rose Garden, Ring Of Fire,
Oh Lonesome Me and so many more. In
the 17 plus years I’ve been doing the show, this may be only the 2nd
or 3rd time for this theme. I’m looking forward to it.
Happy
Birthday wishes go out to California Barb,
in California; Andy Desilets in Ottawa,
Ontario; Sunny in Berkeley, Illinois; and to Heather Dillon in 100 Mile House, British Columbia. If your birthday is coming soon,
please let me know and I’ll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.
The Treasure Island Oldies Blog
is keeping time with this week’s Timely Tunes Special by playing the song that
started off the show. It’s Tyrone Davis
with Turn Back The Hands Of Time. It’s
our Song of the Week. Enjoy!
Voice
Your Choice presents some great Chicago soul with The Chi-Lites. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Have You Seen Her or Oh Girl. I’ll play the winner during the
3rd hour of next week’s show.
Here’s the Rock and Roll News
