April
5th, 2014 to April 11th, 2015
I’d like to wish the listeners around the world a very Happy Easter and Happy Passover. Hope you had a good celebration with your family
and friends. We continue to celebrate the 18th
Anniversary of Treasure Island Oldies with 18 specials and this week it’s
the One Hit Wonders Special. It’s
amazing how many huge hit records were made by artists or groups that appeared
on the top 100 charts one time only. It was good to play your requests as well,
including Donnie by The Bermudas for Toni Howereton in Middletown,
Ohio. Judy Covington in Canton, Ohio checked in on the Listener Line at 206-339-0709 to request Confidential
by Sonny Knight. And speaking of
celebrating, two regulars in the Chat Room, Jill and Tim, met 10 years ago in the chat room. Jill was in Ohio
while Tim lived in Ontario and they continued to get to know each other while
they visited with the other Nuts in the Hut. Well this week is their 2nd
Wedding Anniversary and they had a great visit again this week in the Chat
Room. I surprised them by playing “their songs”: I Got You Babe by Sonny &
Cher and I’ll Be Yours My Love by
The Dave Clark Five. Happy Anniversary Jill and Tim! Good
things happen to the folks who visit the Chat Room. Check it out for yourself
during the Live show Sunday nights. Click Chat and then follow the easy instructions.
Everyone looks forward to your company!
If your birthday is coming up soon, be sure to let me know. Send the
details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com
and I’ll wish you Happy Birthday on
the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for
you.
The next winner of the 18th
Anniversary Contest will be announced on the show April 26th. Be
sure to enter the contest; you could win the poster of your choice from our
good friends at TNJ Poster Creations.
Click the Celebrate 18 logo to have your name randomly selected as another
lucky winner.
The Treasure Island Oldies Blog
is playing the song that started off the One
Hit Wonders Special. It’s The Equals
with Baby Come Back. It’s our Song of the Week. Enjoy!
Voice
Your Choice presents the amazing Chicago group, The Dells. Cast your vote for either There Is or Stay In My Corner.
Good luck with making up your mind! I’ll play the winner on next week’s show.
Here’s the Rock and Roll News
for the week of April 5th
Listen to the Top 5 Countdown
from 1964.
By the way, history was made this
week when the Top 5 from 1964 had The Beatles holding down all 5 spots. If you
missed hearing it during the show, you can listen to the Top 5 Countdown. Click
the link.
Well that’s about it for now. Have a great week.
Bye for now.
