November
17th, 2013 to November 23rd, 2013
Now that was some special! How very cool to have so many songs with a
story as the lyric narrative that they could fill an entire four hour show.
Well that’s just what happened this week on the show with the Story Songs Special, only the second
time since the show began back in 1997 have I done this theme as a special, and
the last time was in 2008. It was great to hear El Paso, Harper Valley P.T.A.,
Gypsy Woman, Ode To Billie Joe, and so many more great stories. I’d like to
thank you for the excellent requests for the show this week, via email and the 24/7 Listener Line at 206-339-0709. I
was very glad to be able to play those songs you wanted to hear. There will be
more specials for your enjoyment coming in 2014, and the dates and themes will
be posted on the Schedule page soon. But the next special will be the annual Treasure Island Oldies Christmas Special.
That’ll happen Sunday, December 22
for the Live show and then
throughout the Holiday Season on the Archive.
Remember that I’d love to wish you Happy
Birthday on the show and play Birthday
by The Beatles to help you celebrate
your special day. The only way I can do that is if you let me know. Send the details
to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.
The Treasure Island Oldies Blog
is playing one of the greatest story songs of the 1960s. It’s Bobbie Gentry and the Ode To Billie Joe. It’s our “Story” Song of the Week.
Martha
& The Vandellas are in the spotlight on Voice Your Choice. Cast your vote at the Voice
Your Choice page for either I’m Ready For
Love or My Baby Loves Me. I’ll play
the winner in the 3rd hour of next week’s show.
