This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of September 7th, 2014

September 7th, 2014 to September 13th, 2014

Thanks for spending another 4 hours together again this week on Treasure Island Oldies. I was pleased to get a lot of response to this week’s Top 5 Countdown; all five were from 1957. In today’s radio world it is not easy to hear songs from the ‘50s, and some “oldies” stations consider oldies to be the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. So I understand why you enjoyed hearing Elvis, Debbie Reynolds, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, and Jerry Lee Lewis. As you know, we delve into the ‘50s every week during the last hour of the show with the Rock And Roll Reunion.

On a programming note, I will be taking a week vacation next week and am looking forward to visiting my mom and sister back east. Next week’s show will be a repeat broadcast of the show from September 15th, 2013. I look forward to returning with a new Live show, Sunday, September 21st.

As I was not informed of any birthdays this week, I’ll just remind you let me know when your birthday is coming up. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I look forward to wishing you Happy Birthday on the show and to playing The Beatles and Birthday just for you.

It was so good to hear Drip Drop by Dion, our Weather song this week. So I thought it was be fun to see a vintage music clip of the great Dion with Drip Drop. It’s our Song of the Week at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Voice Your Choice presents Tommy James and The Shondells. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Ball Of Fire or Crystal Blue Persuasion. I’ll play the winner on next week’s show.

Here’s the Rock and Roll News for the week of September 7th

That’s about it for this week. I know you’ll enjoy hearing next week’s show from last year next week. If you understood that, let me know what I just said. LOL

Next update in two weeks.

Bye for now.
