Charles Brown was born Tony Russell "Charles" Brown September 13th, 1922 in Texas City, Texas. He died of congestive heart failure January 21, 1999 in Oakland, California.
The blues singer and pianist influenced the development of blues performing during the 1940s and '50s. One of his earliest hits was Driftin' Blues.
He's best known for his two Christmas blues songs and it's those songs we spotlight next week on Voice Your Choice on Treasure Island Oldies. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Please Come Home For Christmas or Merry Christmas Baby. I'll play the winner in the 3rd hour of next week's show.
