March
31st, 2014 to April 5th, 2014
I was pleased that several listeners noticed hearing some new jingles on
the show this week. I try to keep the show sounding fresh after almost 17 years,
and that’s not easy at times. LOL The jingles are an important element in the
show overall and I appreciated you remarking on these new ones. Keeping the
show fresh sounding is one of the reasons that there is the occasional
Spontaneous Special, like the Sweet Soul Music show last week. Speaking of
specials, next week it the Annual One Hit Wonders Special. If you’ve
never heard this special in previous years, I am sure you will be surprised to
hear so many songs you know and love. But what may surprise you is the fact
that every artist or group you’ll hear on next week’s show will have only made
one appearance on the charts. It’s hard to believe, but very true. So be sure
to listen next week.
It was nice to welcome Caralee
from Sacramento, California, to the
Treasure Island Oldies Chat Room.
She fit in great with the rest of the Nuts
in the Hut, the Chat Room Regulars. We’d love to welcome you too. Click Chat on any page of the website
and just follow the instructions.
It was very nice hearing from Bill
Holmes, a new listener, but a seasoned music veteran. Bill played drums
with Ronnie Dove and requested that
I play One Kiss For Old Times’ Sake,
a hit for Ronnie in 1965. I’d love to hear from you too. Click Requests button on any page of the website, Call the Listener Line at 206-339-0709,
or send an email to michael@treasureislandoldies.com.
This week’s Top 5 Countdown
is a milestone is music history. Never before or since this week in 1964 has every
song in the Top 5 been by the same artist or group. It’s The Beatles who achieved this major music history event, and are
those five songs by the Fab Four ever great!
Happy
Birthday wishes go out this week to Ineyda
Velasquez in Homestead, Florida,
Red Robinson in Vancouver, British Columbia who is also in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and to my great life-long friend, Frank Vandeven in Lillooet, British Columbia. If your birthday is coming up, let me
know so that I may send birthday wishes to you and play Birthday by The Beatles.
Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.
The Treasure Island Oldies Blog
is playing Ashton Gardner & Dyke
and Resurrection Shuffle. It’s a
preview of what to expect on next week’s One Hit Wonders Special and our Song of the Week. Enjoy!
Please note that Voice Your
Choice will be pre-empted next week due to the One Hit Wonders Special but will return the following week.
Here’s the Rock and Roll News
for the week of March 31st.
Listen to the Top 5 Countdown
from 1964.
Well that’s about it for this week. Be sure to join me next Sunday
beginning at 6 pm Pacific time for the Live show and the Annual One Hit Wonders
Special.
Have a great week.
Bye for now.
