He was born Francis Albert Sinatra on December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Sadly he died at age 82 of a heart attack on May 14, 1998.
During his career, which spanned many decades, he started out by singing with big bands and their leaders such as Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. Incredibly after going for a solo career, he had 40 Top 10 hits before 1954!
He branched out into acting and won a coveted Academy Award Oscar in 1953 for his role in From Here To Eternity. He even started his own record label, Reprise Records in 1961, selling it to Warner Brothers in 1963.
I could go on and on about this legend. Suffice it to say he was a mega star!
