Island Update Treasure Island Oldies

September 15th to  21st, 2019
I can't believe how much was going on for this week's show! I welcomed another new Affiliate Station to the Broadcast Partners Network, Budd Bay's KYA 101.9 FM in Olympia, Washington. Not only will the show be heard in Olympia, but also Lacey, Tumwater and Shelton as well. KYA will simulcast the live show and also replay it Saturday at 110 AM Pacific. Welcome aboard The Island! I was glad to give you a preview of the new Ringo Starr album coming out October 25th and to play the title song, What's My Name. If this is an example, the rest of the album should be great.

I also have a quick contest for you. As The Years Go By...Conversations with Canada's Folk, Pop and Rock Pioneers is a very interesting read indeed. There are interviews with so many great stars including The Diamonds, Shirley Matthews, Mashmakhan, Edward Bear, Lighthouse, The Stampeders, and so many more. The book's available in Kindle and Paperback editions; but you can win a copy in eBook edition. There are no tricky questions to be eligible to win. Just send an email to michael@treasureislandoldies.com. An email will be drawn at random, and the winner will be sent the book via email. Enter now. I'll announce the winner on next week's show.

In addition to all of the aforementioned, the Spotlight Year this week is 1962; and I also did a musical tribute to the late Eddie Money who passed away September 13th of esophageal cancer.

Our next special will be live Sunday, October 13th. We'll celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with many "thankful" songs during the show. In Canada, Thanksgiving is a real celebration of the bounty of the harvest at the end of the summer growing season. In the United States, it takes place near the end of November and is the start of the Christmas season.

Is your birthday coming up soon? If it is, I'd like to help you celebrate it on the show. Send the month and date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights the Chairmen Of The Board. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either (You've Got Me) Dangling On A String or Give Me Just A Little More Time. I'll play the winner on next week's show.

This week the Top Five Countdown is from 1962. And the Number One song is by those Jersey Boys, The Four Seasons. Sherry is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Have a great week.

Bye for now.
