September 1st to 7th, 2019
Remember that old TV ad for "two two two mints in one"? Well this week on the show we have the equivalent of three. Three themes that is. It's the Labour Day End Of Summer Back To School Special all this week on Treasure Island Oldies. Despite a loss of connection to the Network server during the live broadcast (which was fixed and we got back on the air), the Archived show was not affected. So all this week you can listen to the show via our Affiliate Stations on the Broadcast Partners Network.
Our next special will be live Sunday, October 6th. We'll celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with many "thankful" songs during the show. In Canada, Thanksgiving is a real celebration of the bounty of the harvest at the end of the summer growing season. The United States Thanksgiving takes place near the end of November and is the start of the Christmas season.
I'd like to wish Happy Birthday to Kitten Connie in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and also to Cindy Williams in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was fun to play Johnny Crawford's Cindy's Birthday as a surprise for her. Is your birthday coming up soon? If it is, I'd like to help you celebrate it on the show. Send the month and date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.
Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights England's The Animals. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Don't Bring Me Down or San Franciscan Nights. I'll play the winner on next week's show.
This week the Top Five Countdown is from 1965. Sitting at the top of the chart is the title song to The Beatles second feature film. Help! is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Have a great week.
Bye for now.
