The Box Tops - Voice Your Choice Treasure Island Oldies

The Box Tops were from Memphis, Tennessee and included the late great Alex Chilton, who was born in Memphis, on lead vocals. Gary Talley was the guitarist; John Evans played organ, with Bill Cunningham on bass, and Danny Smythe on drums. A change in personnel took place in late 1967 with both John Evans and Danny Smythe leaving the group. They were replaced by Rick Allen and Tom Boggs.

They had a short but stellar string of hit singles between 1967 and when they disbanded in 1970. Sadly Alex Chilton died on March 10, 2010 from a heart attack. Fortunately, their music lives on.
