Mac Davis, the very successful singer and songwriter, was born January 21, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas. Before he launched his recording career, he scored big hits writing for artists including Elvis Presley. Memories, In the Ghetto, Don't Cry Daddy, and A Little Less Conversation were recorded by Elvis.
