The Week On Treasure Island Oldies - Week of September 8th, 2019

September 8th to  14th, 2019

What a pleasure it was to be with you again this week during the live show. This week our Spotlight Year is 1964, and what a great year it was for music. The British Music Invasion was well underway with so many hits from The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, The Searchers, The Animals, and many others. As well, the Motown Sound was also taking off in a huge way with The Supremes, Four Tops, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Martha and The Vandellas, and The Marvelettes setting the pace. I was pleased to play a variety of great music from 1964, including some Lost Treasures. For the complete list of all songs I played, go to the Listen page and scroll down to the Playlist. As the Fall TV season debuts some new shows, I too am pleased to debut a new set of Treasure Island Oldies jingles this week. They sure add to the overall sound of the show and I am so pleased to have these custom jingles.

Our next special will be live Sunday, October 13th. We'll celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with many "thankful" songs during the show. In Canada, Thanksgiving is a real celebration of the bounty of the harvest at the end of the summer growing season. In the United States, it takes place near the end of November and is the start of the Christmas season.

I'd like to wish Happy Birthday to long time listener, Scott Harmon in Phoenix City, Alabama. Is your birthday coming up soon? If it is, I'd like to help you celebrate it on the show. Send the month and date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights The Box Tops. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Neon Rainbow or Cry Like A Baby. I'll play the winner on next week's show.

This week the Top Five Countdown is from 1964. Sitting at the top of the chart, it's The Animals. The House Of The Rising Sun is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Please enjoy your week. Bye for now.
