I'm pleased to feature a very popular group to Treasure Island Oldies listeners this week on Voice Your Choice. Gary Lewis & The Playboys were from Brooklyn, New York. Gary Lewis (real name Levitch) is the son of comedian/actor Jerry Lewis. The Playboys consisted of Al Ramsey and John West on guitars, David Walker on keyboards and David Costell on bass.
During the course of their career, they charted 15 singles which ranged from hitting #1 and achieving Gold Record status (This Diamond Ring written by Al Kooper), to peaking at #63 (Rhythm Of The Rain originally a hit for The Cascades).
