Mitch Ryder, the Detroit-bred rocker, was born William Levise on February 26, 1945. His band, the Detroit Wheels were: Jim McCarty and Joe Cubert on guitars, Earl Elliott on bass, with John Bandanjek playing drums.
A good deal of their charted records were cover tunes of songs originally performed by Little Richard, The Righteous Brothers, Shorty Long, and even The Marvelettes.
This week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels with two of their charted hits for your votes: Sock It To Me-Baby! and Jenny Take A Ride (C.C. Rider - Jenny, Jenny). Make your selection at the Voice Your Choice page. The winning song will be played in Hour 3 of next week's show.
