This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

April 17th, 2011 to April 23rd, 2011

What an interesting theme for the week's mini-special we had on this week's show: Song Titles Not in the Song Lyrics. My thanks to Tom Locke, the creator and writer of our weekly Moment In Time feature, for joining me in the studio and providing great colour commentary throughout the show. Be sure to join me for the next special, our 14th Anniversary Show live Sunday, May 1st, and throughout the week on the archive. It is so hard to believe that the show has been coming to you every week since 1997. It's "the little Internet show that could and did"! :-)

We have reinstated the link for the Real Media Live Stream, as the equipment that went faulty has been repaired. My thanks to the tech department at our Insinc studios. And thanks for your patience and understanding while the problem was being solved. Our Windows Media Live and Archived Streams also sound great and have not been an issue. And if you have a Smartphone, you can listen to both the Windows Media Live and 24/7 Streams. WunderRadio is the app you need to buy; and reasonably priced at only $6.99. You can get the app at WunderRadio.com. Here's the link for the live stream: http://meta.insinc.com/treasure/treasure.asx. And this is the link for the 24/7 Stream: http://treasureislandoldies.com/ContinuousTIO_2.asx.

I was saddened to hear of the death of a long time friend and colleague of mine at A&M Records in Paris. Cathy Oudemans was in charge of Publicity for A&M Europe and she helped us break the artists I had signed to A&M Records including Bryan Adams, The Arrows and many others. She had a great wit and was a consummate professional all the way. We had many good times when we would get together, whether in Paris or Los Angeles. My thoughts go out to Cathy's family at this time. My thanks to Les Pfenninger, the webmaster for the A&M Records Alumni website, for keeping me and my former co-workers at A&M informed.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is keeping with this week's theme of Song Titles Not in the Song Lyrics. We're playing the Bee Gees in a great live concert performance of New York Mining Disaster 1941. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice presents the very talented Lesley Gore with two of her many hits for your votes this week: Look Of Love and Judy's Turn To Cry. Which song would you like to hear? Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page and be listening for the winning song in the 3rd hour of next week's show.

If you have a birthday coming up, I'd like to help celebrate it with all the Treasure Island Oldies listeners. Send the details of your birthday to birthdays@treasureisdlandoldies.com. I'll then wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play our official birthday song for you, Birthday by The Beatles.

Let the world know you're a proud listener of Treasure Island Oldies. Send in your name, photo, city and province or state for the Listener Gallery to michael@treasureislandoldies.com and our Webmaster, Eddy Fisher, will post it on the Listener Gallery page along with the many already received.

You can also let all your friends know you enjoy the show with your personal Treasure Island Oldies Email Signature. A selection of complimentary signatures to be placed at the end of your outgoing emails is available for download. Click Goodies on the upper menu on any page on the website. Thanks to the many folks that have downloaded their own copy of the Email Signature. That's great!

I hope you have a great week and see you next Sunday for the live show.

Bye for now.

Michael
