400 people applied for a part in a new TV series in 1966. 4 were chosen: Davey Jones, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and Mickey Dolenz. They became The Monkees. They starred in 58 episodes of The Monkees TV Show, a fast-paced, somewhat disjointed romp, with a bit of a feel of The Beatles first movie A Hard Day's Night.
