This Week On Treasue Island Oldies

March 18, 2012 to March 24, 2012

Hi and welcome to this week's update. What a blast we had on our Annual Name Game Special. It's always surprising to me just how many hits there were in the 50s, 60s and 70s with people's names in the song titles. And it becomes extremely evident when we have our annual special. I'd like to thank you for the many suggestions as well as requests I received. I always enjoy hearing from you. And it was great to play some Lost Treasures as well, including A Symphony For Susan by The Arbors, Virginia (Touch Me Like You Do) by Bill Amesbury, Kathy Linden's Goodbye Jimmy Goodbye, Patti Ann by Johnny Crawford, who played the role of Mark McCain on the TV series The Rifleman. It's always a treat to dig up these rarely played oldies for you to enjoy.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is keeping our Name Game Special theme going with Ricky Nelson and Hello Mary Lou. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice presents one of the early Girl Groups, The Shirelles, with two of their big hits: Baby It's You and Foolish Little Girl. Cast your vote for the song you'd like to hear at the Voice Your Choice page. We'll play the winning song in the 3rd hour of next week's show.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Joel Drucker in Randolph, New Jersey, and to long-time friend, listener and weekly contributor to the show with his Rock & Roll Relic, Rick Canode in Madison, Wisconsin. All the best to you both. If you have a birthday coming up, be sure to let me know. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and play Birthday, our official birthday song by The Beatles, for you.

Mark your calendar for our next special, the highly popular One Hit Wonders Special, the Week of April 8th. Despite a slew of artists who had multiple hits in their career, there are still many artists and groups whose good fortune only shone on them one time with one hit record. And we'll play many of them for your enjoyment. Be sure to let me know if there's a particular One Hit Wonder you'd like me to play. Call or Click with your requests. Call the Treasure Island Oldies Listener Line 24/7 at 206-339-0709 or Click the Requests Button on any page of the website.

Have a great week.

Bye for now.

Michael
