This Week On Treasure Island Oldies - Week Of June 23rd, 2013

June 23rd, 2013 to June 29th, 2013

As the Irish Rovers sang, Wasn't That A Party! Our 17th Annual Summer Beach Party was a great success and a fun party with lots of great music, along with the sun, the surf, the sand, and oh yes, the seagulls. LOL Thanks for your great summer requests; it was a pleasure to play them on the show. And nobody got a sunburn! How fantastic is that. :-)

Next week we conclude our June specials with our Annual Music of Canada Special, Live Sunday, June 30th and after on the Archive at the Listen page. There'll be great music featured throughout the show by artists and groups from across Canada, who made an impression locally and around the world. The special coincides with Canada Day, July 1st, when the country will be 156 years young. It would be my pleasure to have you listen to the Music of Canada special and while you're at it, drop by the Chat Room to extend your experience of the show. Click Chat on any page of the website and follow the instruction for logging into the chat room. Very soon you too can be one of the Nuts in the Hut here on The Island.

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Linda Guy in La Habra, California, my son David's partner, Jessica Vanditmars in Surrey, British Columbia. Our webmaster Eddy Fisher's brother, Barry Fisher in Toronto, Ontario is also celebrating a birthday, along with my nephew Tony Gize in Airdrie, Alberta, and Terry Dinsmore in Vancouver, British Columbia. If you have a birthday coming up, I invite you to let me know so that I can wish you Happy Birthday on the show and play Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is celebrating summer and our Annual Summer Beach Party with one of the all-time greatest summer hits by The Lovin' Spoonful, Summer In The City. It's our Song Of The Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice presents my friend from Montreal, Andy Kim. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Be My Baby or Rock Me Gently. While both songs were huge hits for Andy, I'll play the winner, assuming there isn't a tie, in the 3rd hour of next week's show.
