This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of March 23rd, 2015

March 22nd, 2015 to March 28th, 2015

I always enjoy letting you know about a new album from what I refer to as our “Heritage” artists, and I am so pleased to let you know that Ringo Starr will release a brand new album, Postcards From Paradise, On March 31st. And I was glad to play the title song on the show. What’s so cool about this new song from Ringo are the number of references in the lyrics to songs written or recorded by The Beatles and Ringo as a solo artist. I counted 25 tunes mentioned! Very cool. If you missed hearing the Live show, be sure to go to the Listen page and click Archives. You’ll be able to hear Postcards From Paradise during the 2nd hour of the show. I’m also going to play it at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Postcards From Paradise is our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Congratulations to Paul Carter, Jr. in Ellicott City, Maryland, the March winner of the Treasure Island Oldies 18th Anniversary Contest. He chose as his prize, courtesy of TNJ Poster Creations, the Treasure Island Oldies Tribute Poster, created by TNJ Poster Creations. More winners to come so be sure to enter the contest. Click the Celebrate 18 logo for full details. No purchase necessary. The next winner will be announced on the show in April. Good Luck!

Happy Birthday, in fact Happy 65th Birthday wishes go out to Tom Locke, my good friend and creator of our weekly Moment In Time feature. Tom’s turning 65 and had a great celebration at a fun dinner and show club, The Giggle Dam, in Port Coquitlam, BC which I was so pleased to attend. What a fun night with great entertainment and delicious food. All the best to you Tom! If your birthday is coming up, be sure to let me know so that I celebrate your special day with you on the show. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I’ll play Birthday by The Beatles for you on the show and well ad wish you all the best for your birthday.

Voice Your Choice features Connie Francis, pop music’s Number One female singer from the late ‘50s to the mid-60s. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Who’s Sorry Now or Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool. I’ll play the winner on next week’s show.
