This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of April 2, 2017

Week of April 2nd, 2017 to April 8th, 2017

Man oh man, the Name Game Special was fun! And so many songs with someone's name in the title. And despite the fact that it's a four hour show, I still only skimmed the surface of the long list of name songs. I was very pleased to get your requests and suggestions. You sure know your music!

Be sure to mark your calendar for our next special and it'll a milestone for the show and for Internet radio. It the 20th Anniversary of Treasure Island Oldies and we'll have a big party to celebrate Sunday, May 7th. We began back in 1997 of May 4th and have never looked back. I hope you can join me for the party and if you care to, send an email to me and I'll read your greeting on the air.

The Chat Room was in full swing this week and it was great to welcome Tom and Darryl from WTND-LP. They worked closely with Rick Canode to get the new chat room up and running. I'd also like to extend big thanks to Pat at the Dishnuts for allowing us to use their chat server and for setting up the new Chat Room. We have had no issues or glitches for the past three weeks since we began testing and it is very stable. If you like using mIRC, you'll be pleased to know that we should soon be able to provide the log in info via mIRC for you. Otherwise, please continue logging in via the chat page using our webchat. Either way, you'll be in the Chat Room with all the other Nuts in the Hut. More info as it unfolds.

It's my pleasure to wish Happy Birthday to Ineyda Velasquez in Dade City, Florida. And if you have a birthday coming up soon, please let me know. It's a tradition on Treasure Island Oldies to help celebrate our listeners birthday. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I'll wish you Happy Birthday and play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

It's a page out of history this week for the Top Five Countdown. Never before nor since has the Top Five songs all been by the same artist or group. That major feat was accomplished this week in 1964 by The Beatles! The Number One song is Can't Buy Me Move. It's playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents one of the great instrumental groups, Johnny and the Hurricanes. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Crossfire or Red River Rock. I'll play the winning song on next week's show.

Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast

Have a great week.

Bye for now.
