Jackie De Shannon Voice Your Choice

Jackie DeShannon was born Sharon Lee Myers on August 21, 1941 in Hazel, Kentucky. She sure started her career early on, as at age six she sang country songs on a local radio station. By 11 she was hosting her own radio program.

She continued singing and caught the attention of Liberty Records in 1960 and released several records that were mostly regional hits.

Two of her earliest hits were Needles and Pins and and a song she wrote, When You Walk In The Room. Both became hits for The Searchers during the British Music Invasion of the '60s.

Treasure Island Oldies is pleased to present Jackie DeShannon on Voice Your Choice with two perfect songs for the Valentine's Day Special next week. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Put A Little Love In Your Heart or What The World Needs Now Is Love. I'll play the winner on next week's show.
