This Week on Treasure Island Oldies Week of February 2 2020

February 2nd to 8th, 2020
It sure was a busy week on the show. The Spotlight Year was 1969, including the Top Five Countdown. I also was pleased to do a musical tribute to The Kingston Trio, in honour of the passing of founding original member Bob Shane, who died last week at age 85. Also in tribute to The Day The Music Died, I devoted the entire 4th hour to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. It included news bulletins, interviews and tribute songs by other recording artists, as well as the great music of Buddy, Ritchie and the Bog Bopper. For a complete list of every song I played during the four hours we had together, go to the Listen page and scroll down to the Playlist.

Next week on the show, it's the annual Love Fest, the Valentine's Day Special. The four hours will be filled with songs with one common theme: love. I look forward to your company.

If your birthday is coming up soon, I'd like to help you celebrate your birthday with all the show's listeners. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

I wanted to take a moment to send my most sincere condolences to Mike Dillon in 100 Mile House, British Columbia on the passing of his sweetheart, Heather Mary Dillon. I've known them both for many years and have had the pleasure of visiting with them. Heather visited the Chat Room on many occasions using Fawn as her nickname. Fawn Lake was a place she loved, right near 100 Mile House. All of the folks in the chat room share in the sadness. We'll miss Heather. And we're all thinking of Mike as this most difficult time.

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice features Jackie DeShanon with two of her love songs for your votes. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Put A Little Love In Your or What The World Needs Now Is Love. I'll play the winner on next week's Valentine's Day Special.

The Top Five Countdown is from this week's Spotlight Year, 1969. This week's Number One song is by Tommy James and The Shondells. Crimson And Clover is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

I hope you have a good week. Be sure to join me next Sunday for the live Valentine's Day Special. Take care.

Bye for now.
