Badfinger were Peter Ham, Mike Gibbons, Tom Evans, and Joey Molland. They were the first group signed to The Beatles' Apple Records. Peter Asher, from Peter and Gordon fame, was the head of A&R for Apple Records and convinced all four Beatles to sign the group. Formed in 1961, they were originally called The Iveys, but changed their name after signing to the label. They chose the name Badfinger after the rough working title of The Beatles' With A Little Help From My Friends, Bad Finger Boogie.
With the dissolution of Apple Records, the group was left with legal, financial and managerial issues. Sadly it resulted in Peter Ham taking his own life in 1975. Unfortunately the remaining members of the group floundered so much that member Tom Evans also committed suicide in 1983.
However, on a much happier note, they sure left us with a host of great pop records and this week on Treasure Island Oldies presents two of them for your votes.
Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Come And Get It or Day After Day. I'll p[lay the winner on next week's show.
