Del Shannon was born Charles Westover on December 30, 1934 in Coopersville, Michigan. Not only was he a talented hit maker as a recording artist, he was also a very good songwriter. One of his big hits that he wrote was I Go To Pieces, recorded by Peter & Gordon.In the short time span between 1961 and 1966, Del appeared on the Billboard charts sixteen times and had three Top Ten hits including the Number One and Gold Record, Runaway.
