The Partridge Family TV show was broadcast from 1970-74 and featured as lead singer David Cassidy and his real-life stepmother Shirley Jones who sang background vocals with the group. David is the son of actor Jack Cassidy. The premise of the show was about a widowed mother and her five children who begin a music career.
Interestingly, the concept for the TV show was based on the real-life touring family The Cowsills, who themselves scored many hit songs.
During their brief career, The Partridge Family appeared on the Billboard charts a total of nine times, including three Top Ten hits and two Gold Records.
This week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice features The Partridge Family with two of their hit songs for your votes: Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted and I'll Meet You Halfway.
