This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

This week on Treasure Island Oldies
June 6th, 2010 to June 12th, 2010

No sooner do we add SpaceCoast IRadio.com as a new station to the Treasure Island Oldies Broadcast Partners Network, when the following week we hear from one of the station's listeners. It was great to have Lou Watson call the 24/7 Listener Line to request Searchin' by The Coasters. Thanks very much Lou and please call back again with another request at any time. I'd love to hear from you too with your request. Please be sure to let me know where you hear the show, whether it's directly at our website or via one of our radio stations that carry the show every week. You can call and record your message on the 24/7 Listener Line at 206-203-4678 or click the Requests button on any page of the website. Contact me anytime.

Mark your calendar for our next two specials. On June 20th it's our Annual Father's Day Special, with every song referring to Dad, Father, Daddy, Papa, etc. throughout the four hour show. Then on June 27th, it's our 14th Annual Summer Beach Party. Now this is a fun show with the sun, the surf, the sand and the best summer music you'll hear anywhere, and in some instances nowhere else but here on the Island. Be careful though, there are quite a few seagulls that fly around the Island. Bring your bathing suit, sunscreen, and your ears. Leave the rest up to yours truly. The Chat Room will actually be on the beach and the regulars will definitely be the Nuts in the Hut; I'll be the Lifeguard helping to ensure everyone's safety. :-)

Happy Birthday wishes are extended this week to Michael G in Berkeley, California, who is enjoying his 60th Birthday. Also Happy Birthday to Paul Carter Jr. in Ellicott City, Maryland. It was good to play Birthday by The Beatles, our official birthday song, for both Mike and Paul. If you have a birthday coming up, I'd like to wish you Happy Birthday on the show and play our Birthday Song for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.

I am pleased to introduce a couple of new features on the show starting this week. The Memory Test will a song that you may not have heard since it was first played on the radio. I'll ask "Do you Remember?" then play the song. Only at the end will I tell you the song title and artist. This will be fun. As well, in the 2nd hour of the show will be The Music Link. Ill play two songs that will have words that are linked to each other. I'll reveal the Music Link at the end of the song. My thanks to Paul Carter, Jr. for the great idea and Music Link suggestions; we have enough to do this for some time.

Our network, insinc, has done some tweaking to our 24/7 Continuous Feed which should help to maintain the feed without interruption. Thanks to Mike at insinc for his work on this improvement. You can hear the show at any time non-stop; click the Listen button on the menu and then click the Listen button under "Continuous 24/7 Treasure Island Oldies for your Windows Media Player".

We're playing Sugar Town by Nancy Sinatra at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice spotlights one of Detroit's great rock legends, Bob Seger with two of his big hits: Ramblin' Gamblin' Man and Night Moves. Which song would you like to hear? Cast your vote by clicking  Voice Your Choice here. We'll play the winning song in the 3rd hour of next week's show.

Check out the Rock & Roll News and the Top 5 Countdown; both are available at the website. Click the Podcast button on the Menu for the Rock & Roll News and click the Listen button for the Top 5 Countdown. You can Subscribe to the Podcast via iTunes. Go to the iTunes Store and search Treasure Island Oldies Rock and Roll News Podcast. Did you know that there are over eleven thousand downloads of the Rock & Roll News Podcast every month? Thanks for your interest and support for these features.

Send in your photo for the Treasure Island Oldies Listener Gallery. Many folks have, but there's still room for yours. Send your picture, name and city to michael@treasureislandoldies.com. I look forward to receiving  it from you.

Is your high school, college or university Alma Mater planning a Reunion? Let me know and I'll be pleased to let the listeners know about it. Today with people scattered all around the globe, it is sometimes difficult to reach them. I'll do my best to help publicize and promote your Reunion. Send the details to michael@treasureislandoldies.com.

Have a good week.

Bye for now.
Michael
