This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

This week on Treasure Island Oldies
June 27th, 2010 to July 3rd, 2010

Wow! What a great luau we had on our 14th Annual Summer Beach Party. We had the sun, the surf, the sand, and the greatest summer music anywhere. Oh and the food and beverages were delicious too! The fun continues all week long on the Archive. You don't want to miss this great summer special. Click Listen on the Menu and select this week's show, June 27th, for your Real Player. If you prefer Windows Media or using Winamp, you can listen the three most recent shows, including the 14th Annual Summer Beach Party on our Continuous 24/7 Feed. Speaking of Real Player, you may have recently remarked that there is a bit of distortion happening on both the live and archive. There is nothing I can do about it; I am afraid that our network is no longer supporting Real Media, and is focusing on Windows Media. At one time I was not a fan of Windows Media; over time though the codec that processes the sound has been dramatically improved. And I now love how the show sounds; full bass, and high end frequencies now  are cleanly and clearly reproduced, without sounding "tinny", as was the case in the past. If you've been listening in Real Media, I highly encourage you to check out our high bandwidth Windows Media feed. We just may be approaching the time when we cease to broadcast the show in Real Media. I will keep you informed of how things progress.

Next week I invite you to get out your maple syrup, poutine, and Canada Flag, as we wave in salute to the songwriters, artists and groups from coast to coast in Canada for our Annual Music of Canada Special. There are so many Canadian artists that made their mark across Canada and around the world throughout the '50s, '60s and '70s. And since then, even more major stars come from Canada including superstar Michael Bublé, Bryan Adams (who I am very proud to have signed to A&M Records when I was head of the A&R - Artist & Repertoire Department), Diana Krall, Sarah McLachlan, and so many others. Of course, we will focus on the early hit makers of the 50s, 60s and 70s next Sunday. Join me for four hours of great music.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Linda Guy in La Habra, California. All the best to you Linda, from all your friends at Treasure Island Oldies. Linda is also a regular Nut in the Hut, the Treasure Island Oldies Chat Room. If you have a birthday coming up soon, let me know by sending the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll be pleased to play our Official birthday song by The Beatles, Birthday.

By the way, you should join Linda and the other regulars in the Chat Room during the live show Sunday nights. Click Chat on the Menu for more details.

In case you didn't know, two more stations have joined the Treasure Island Oldies Broadcast Partners Network in recent weeks. I am pleased to welcome SpaceCoastIRadio.com located on Merritt Island, Florida. I will be posting an article to the Blog that was released by the publicist for the station. It's a flattering article and I am sure you'll be pleased to read it. A big hello goes out to Pennnine235Gold in Glasgow, Scotland. It's always a thrill when a new country enables us to reach a new audience. I hope the listeners of both stations enjoy our show.

The Treasure Island Oldies Blog is playing a fantastic summer song by England's First Class. Beach Baby, a favourite summer song of the Treasure Island Oldies Listeners, is our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

As I mentioned earlier, next week's show is our Annual Music of Canada Special, and Voice Your Choice is also spotlighting a group of musicians from Montreal. The Bells featuring Jacki  Ralph, sharing the lead vocal spotlight with Cliff Edwards. Two of their hit songs are up for your votes: Fly Little White Dove Fly and Stay Awhile. Cast your vote by clicking to the Voice Your Choice page and making your selection. We'll play the song with the greatest percentage of votes in the 3rd hour of next week's show.
I am so pleased with the number of people who enjoy the Rock & Roll News Podcast every week. You can download it at the iTunes Store by searching for Treasure Island Oldies Rock & Roll News Podcast.
