Week of February 5th, 2017 to February 11th, 2017
Three
young rock and rollers lost their lives in a plane crash this week in
1959. And in the 4th hour of this week's show it was our tribute to
Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper with the Annual Tribute:
The Day The Music Died. It is always so fascinating to hear a young
Buddy Holly being interviewed and jarring to hear the news bulletins
announcing the plane crash to listeners. Overall however, it is always
great to hear their music and the musical tributes that were generated
by their passing. Thanks for listening to this week's show and the
special again this year.
Attention
all lovers! Our next special is coming up next week with the Annual
Valentine's Day Special. The entire four hours will be filled with some
of the greatest love songs of all time. You won't want to miss it when
we get underway at 6 pm Pacific.
Is
your birthday coming up soon? If so, please let me know the date so
that I can help you celebrate your special day on the air. Send the
details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I'll wish you Happy
Birthday and play Birthday by The Beatles for you.
The
Top Five Countdown this week is from 1959 and the Number One song is
Stagger Lee by "Mr. Personality", Lloyd Price. It's playing at the
Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!
Next
week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents the soulful
duo Peaches and Herb. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Close Your Eyes or For Your Love. I'll play the winner on next
week's show.
Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.
Have a great week and see you next Sunday for the next Live show and our annual Valentine's Day Special.
Take good care and all the best.
Bye for now.
Michael
