Week of February 12th, 2017 to February 18th, 2017
Welcome
to this week's Island Update. I hope you enjoyed our annual Valentine's
Day Special and thanks for your requests; they always add an extra
special element to the show. The Chat Room was busy as well and it was
good to see the regulars along with listeners who drop by to say hello
from time to time. Speaking of regulars, a big shout out to Linda Guy in
La Habra, California, who is now back home recuperating from knee
replacement surgery. Take it slow and easy, Linda, and follow the
instructions from your doctor. Our webmaster, Eddy Fisher, has had both
knees replaced and advises to remember to do all the rehab exercises to
help ensure a complete recovery. All the best to you, Linda!
Mark your calendar for our next special. It's the annual One Hit Wonders Special, coming up Sunday, March 12th.
You'll be surprised with just how many artists and groups had hits on
the charts, but only once. And we will highlight some of those great and
unforgettable records during the entire four hours. You won't want to
miss it this special, which will get underway at 6 pm Pacific.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Guylaine
Côté in Quebec City, Quebec. She's a long time listener of the show and
even used to listen when I was a DJ at CFOM in Quebec City, when she
was around 9 years old! Very cool. Now, is your birthday coming up soon?
If so, please let me know the date so that I can help you celebrate
your special day on the air. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and
play Birthday by The Beatles for you.
The
Top Five Countdown this week is from 1962 and the Number One song is
Duke Of Earl by Gene Chandler. It's playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!
Next
week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents some great
party music from Sam The Sham and The Pharoahs. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Wolly Bully or Lil' Red Riding Hood.
I'll play the winner on next week's show.
Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.
Have a great week and see you next Sunday for the next Live show. In the meantime, Happy Valentine's Day.
Take good care and all the best.
Bye for now.
Michael
