Week of February 19th, 2017 to February 25th, 2017
Thanks
for joining me on the Island again this week. I am pleased to have had
an opportunity to bring you a musical tribute to the late Bobby Freeman
throughout the 4 hours. While he passed away of a heart attack at his
home in Daly City, California on January 23rd, word was only released by
the family a few days ago. It was so good to hear some of his hits
including C'Mon and Swim, Do You Wanna Dance, Mary Ann Thomas and Betty
Lou Got A New Pair Of Shoes.
It was great to have a visit with the folks
in the Chat Room. If you've never tried dropping by, I can assure you
that everyone is very welcoming and will make you feel right at home
with lively conversation and a common interest in the love of the music I
play on the show. Try it out for yourself next Sunday. All you need to
do is go to the Chat page and follow the simple instructions. We all
look forward to welcoming you.
The annual One Hit Wonders Special returns Sunday, March 12th.
You'll be surprised with just how many artists and groups had hits on
the charts, but only once. And we will highlight some of those great and
unforgettable records during the entire four hours. You won't want to
miss it this special, which will get underway at 6 pm Pacific.
If
your birthday coming up soon, please let me know the date so that I can
help you celebrate your special day on the air. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com and I'll wish you Happy Birthday and
play Birthday by The Beatles for you.
The
Top Five Countdown this week is from 1967 and the Number One song is
Kind Of A Drag by The Buckinghams. It's playing at the Treasure Island
Oldies Blog. Enjoy!
Next
week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents a couple of
soulful tunes from the great Sam Cooke. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Wonderful World or You Send Me. I'll play the
winner on next week's show.
Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.
Have a great week and I look forward to your company next Sunday for the next Live show.
Take good care and all the best.
Bye for now.
Michael
