Week of May 28th, 2017 to June 3rd, 2017
Welcome
to this week's Island Update. I was pleased to be able to pay tribute
to the late Gregg Allman on this week's show. I only heard about the
passing of this Southern Rock pioneer on Sunday morning of this week's
Live show. And that is the beauty of doing a Live show. There is the
ability to adjust the playlist at the last minute, as opposed to a recorded show and having to wait do a tribute a week after the
fact. Apart from Gregg's solo version of Midnight Rider, it was great to
play some wonderful Allman Brothers Band records too, some I had never
played on the show. For a look at the complete playlist for this week's
show, please click Listen on the menu bar and then scroll down the page.
The playlist is available every week.
Yet
again this week, the Chat Room was buzzing with conversation among the
Nuts in the Hut and it was great to welcome Robert from Crossville,
Tennessee to the Chat Room. Robert has been listening to the show over
the past 20 years but made his first visit to the Chat Room this week.
Everyone made him feel comfortable and completely at ease. And did he
ever have a good time and he fit like a glove! Next week why not drop by
the Chat Room during the live show from 6 to 10 pm Pacific. There are
two ways to log on: via Web Chat and also using mIRC. Just follow the
easy instructions no matter which method you choose. We all look forward
to welcoming you and to you becoming an official Nut in the Hut.
Happy
Birthday wishes go out to Daryl Dartnell (I'm not sure what city he
lives in), and to long time listener Bruce Toews in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
If you have a birthday coming up soon, I'd like to help celebrate your
special day by wishing you Happy Birthday on the air and also play
Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the details to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com
The
Top Five Countdown on this week's show is from 1971. And the Number One
song is by the Rolling Stones. Brown Sugar is playing at the Treasure
Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!
Ireland's The Bachelors are
in the spotlight next week for Voice Your Choice on Treasure Island
Oldies. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Diane or Marie. I'll play the winning song on next
week's show.
Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.
Have a great week and thanks again for your company on the show.
See you next week here on the Island.
Bye for now.
