Buddy Knox was born in the small farming community of Happy, Texas, on July 20, 1933. When he got into high school, he teamed up with some friends and formed the Rhythm Orchids. After they performed on the same radio show in 1956, Roy Orbison suggested Buddy Knox approach producer Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, who had produced That'll Be The Day for Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Norman Petty produced what would become the trademark song of Buddy Knox's career, Party Doll.
