This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of August 20th, 2017

Week of August 20th, 2017 to August 26th, 2017
We're in those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer and what better way to relax and enjoy yourself than listen to Treasure Island Oldies and hear all your favourite music. There isn't a lot going on this week, but I did want to remind you of a couple of items.

The deadline for entering the Blue Suede Shoes Contest is coming up fast: this Friday, August 25th at 12 Midnight pacific time. Remember you must include the list of 8 Elvis Presley songs that I played on the show last week, along with your name and mailing address to contest@treasureislandoldies.com. Here's your chance to win a copy of the brand new coffee table-sized book, Blue Suede Shoes - The Culture Of Elvis, written by Thom Gilbert, with a Foreward by Kim Novak. I'll announce the winner on the show on Sunday, August 27th.

Join me for the next special on September 3rd. when it'll be the End Of Summer, Back To School, Labour Day Special . You'll hear the last of the summer songs, along with songs about going back to school and working tunes. It's a nice set up for Fall. It will get underway at 6 pm Pacific.

I'd like to send out my best birthday wishes to Fay Greenwood in Langley, British Columbia.  You'll recall that Fay presented the Hits From Across The Pond feature on the show for several years and I'm pleased to wish my good friend Happy Birthday. If your birthday is coming up soon, I'd like to know so that I can help celebrate your special day by wishing you Happy Birthday on the show and also by playing Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the info to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com

This week's Top Five Countdown is from 1969. And the Number One song is Honky Tonk Women by The Rolling Stones and it's playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights The Diamonds. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Ka Ding Dong or The Stroll. I'll play the winning song on next week's show.

Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.

Thanks again for listening to the show. I look forward to your company next week.

Bye for now.
Michael
