Jimmy Dean was born on August 10, 1928 in Plainview, Texas. While the family was poor, Jimmy showed that he was rich in talent. He performed as a member of the Tennessee Haymakers in Washington, D.C. in 1948; and then in 1952 he had his own outfit, the Texas Wildcats. Eventually he also had his own TV series on CBS in 1957 and 1958, then with ABC between 1963 and 1966.
During the period of the late '50s and into the '60s, Jimmy signed with Columbia Records and had success on the charts on thirteen occasions, including two Gold records.
