This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of September 17th, 2017

Week of September 17th, 2017 to September 23rd, 2017
It was good to spend another fours hours together again this week on the Island, enjoying some of the greatest music ever made. Thanks for your requests; they always add to the show. If you are listening during the live show Sunday nights and think of a song you'd like for me to play, just send a quick email to requests@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll do my best to play it for you while the show is live. On the other hand, if at some point during the week you think of a song you'd like to hear on the next show, please also let me know. Just use the same email address: requests@treasureislandoldies.com.

I'd like to wish Lamoyne Westerbeck a very Happy Birthday. Lamoyne owns and operates our affiliate station on the Broadcast Partners Network, KWQQ 106.3 FM, in Farmington, Iowa. Double Q simulcasts the live show Sundays and also plays it back again Wednesdays at 1 pm. If your birthday is coming up soon, I'd like to know so that I can help celebrate your special day by wishing you Happy Birthday on the show and also by playing Birthday by The Beatles for you. Send the info to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com.

Please mark your calendar for our Canadian Thanksgiving Special, live Sunday, October 8th. I'll prepare a great harvest of music for this special that will fit into the theme of Thanksgiving.

This week's Top Five Countdown is from 1960. And the Number One song is The Twist by Chubby Checker. By the way, this was the first of two times when The Twist went to Number One. It happened again in 1962. No other record has hit Number One twice, let alone two years apart. It's playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog. Enjoy!

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights Jimmy Dean. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either PT 109 or Little Black Book. I'll play the winning song on next week's show.

Here's this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.

Thanks again for listening to the show. See you next week.

Bye for now.

Michael
