This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of July 29th, 2018

July 29th to August 4th, 2018
In the midst of all this intense summer heat, I was glad to play some very cool songs on this week's show. It was also fun to have not just one but three of our Broadcast Partners Network affiliate radio stations join us in the chat room. A big shout out to Darryl and Tom from 106.3 FM WTND in Macomb, Illinois; Lamoyne from Double Q, KWQQ 1610 AM and 106.3 FM in Farmington, Iowa; and Jim with Sunny 1670 KDSX in Bonham, Texas. These stations, along with many others, air Treasure Island Oldies every week. It was very cool to have them join us for a fun time chatting and enjoying the music together. We'd love to have your company in the chat room as well. Next week why not click on the Chat button and, after following the easy instructions, you too can be one of the Nuts In The Hut.

Speaking of next week, be sure to listen for the annual Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders Special. There was a time when there were many instrumental records released and they were heard on the radio often. That's not the case today, as there is hardly any instrumental music today. However on next week's show, I will bring back all your favourite instrumental hits, including some Lost Treasures that I bet you haven't heard in years. We will get underway with the Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders Special starting at 6 p.m. Pacific. You won't want to miss this.

Do you have a birthday coming up soon? Please let me know so that I can help you celebrate your special day with the Island listeners around the world. Send the date info to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

The Top Five Countdown this week is from our Spotlight Year 1967, the Summer of Love. Appearing at the number One spot is Light My Fire by The Doors. It's now playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

For next week's Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders Special, the Voice Your Choice spotlight shines on the pride of New Orleans, Al Hirt. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Cotton Candy Lovers or Java. I'll play the winner on the next week's show.

Listen to this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.

Have a great week and see you next Sunday for the annual Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders Special starting at 6 pm Pacific.

Bye for now.
Michael
