Motown's The Supremes began their career as The Primettes in 1959 and initially recorded for the small LuPine Records without any chart success. That all changed when they were signed to Motown and their Tamla Records label in 1960. Diana Ross, Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard
then became The Supremes. It wasn't until the release of their 7th
record that their career took off in a big way. That single was Where Did Our Love Go, which reached Number One and became a million seller.
Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice spotlights the Christmas music side of the Supremes. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Twinkle Twinkle Little Me or Silver Bells. I'll play the winner on nest week's show.
