Billy & Lillie were a duo from the east coast of the United States. Billy Ford was born March 9, 1925 in Bloomfield, New Jersey, while Lillie Bryant was from Newburg, New York and was born February 14, 1940.
They had a very short chart career, scoring only four hits in 1958 and 1959, but two of them have lasted through the Rock and Roll years. As the story goes, Dick Clark, when they were performing "La Dee Dah" on American Bandstand, liked their song so much that he asked the songwriters to write another song. Bob Crewe and Frank Slay came up with their third single release, "Lucky Ladybug".
This week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice features two of Billy & Lillie's hit songs: La Dee Dah and Lucky Ladybug.
