Floyd Cramer was born on October 27, 1933 in the small town of Samti, Louisiana but raised in Huttig, Arkansas. Sadly he died of cancer on New Year's Eve in December 1997 at age 64.
For years, Floyd was the top session pianist in Nashville, Tennessee, having lived there since 1955. During the many years there he worked with the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Perry Como, Chet Atkins, and so many others.
While a very much in demand studio player for other people's recording sessions, he still managed to have a sizeable number of hits of his own. He appeared on the charts a total of 11 times between 1958 and 1963, in fact he had three Top Ten hits and a Gold Record.
Voice Your Choice features Floyd Cramer with two of his many hits for your votes: San Antonio Rose and On The Rebound, both Top Ten hits. Cast your vote for the song you'd like to hear at the Voice Your Choice page. The winning song will be played on next week's show.
