This Week On Treasure Island Oldies

This week on Treasure Island Oldies
Week of April 11th, 2010  April 17th, 2010

I must say that whenever there is a special on the show, it is a real treat. I really enjoy hearing from you with your requests, and this week's Annual One Hit Wonders Special was no exception. Excellent song requests came in both via the Listener Line and  email. Many of the songs requested had not been played on the show in many years and in a couple of examples, I just had not gotten around to playing them ever before. So thanks very much. And any time you'd like to hear a song, Call the 24/7 Listener Line at 206-203-4678 or Click the Requests button on any page of the website, and it doesn't have to be with regard to any special.

Speaking of specials, I am very excited, proud and extremely pleased to be celebrating the 13th Anniversary of Treasure Island Oldies with you on Sunday, May 2nd for the live show. The actual anniversary date is two days later on May 4th, but as that is not falling on a Sunday this year, we'll have our celebration on Sunday, May 2nd. It would be my honour to play back your anniversary greetings on the show. Just call the 24/7 Listener Line at 206-203-4678 and record your message.

Our Webmaster, Eddy Fisher, has begun the process of transferring our website and email to a new provider. He hopes that everything will be completed by next weekend, fingers crossed. We hope that there will not be any interruption of access to the website during this transition. However, there could be a few days of emails not getting through. If you send an email to me and it bounces back to you, please don't think I am being rude or ignoring you. Also, some emails could also get lost between the old and new provider. So if you are expecting an answer from me and don't get one within a couple of days, please re-send it. Once everything is moved to the new provider, everything should be back to normal. Normal?? Maybe abnormal is more like it! :-)

The Treasured Island Oldies Blog is playing a clip from the amazing T.A.M.I. Show, which has just recently been released on DVD. James Brown delivers one of the greatest performances of his career in this two song medley of Prisoner Of Love and Please Please Please. It's our Song of the Week. Enjoy!

Voice Your Choice features the legendary Chuck Berry with two of his many hits, and amazingly one of which was his only Number One Song. Would you prefer to hear You Never Can Tell or My Ding A Lin? Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page. We'll play the winning song in the third hour of next week's show.

Happy Birthday to Raza, the son of Pickering, Ontario listener JJ. As it was our One Hit Wonders special, instead of The Beatles original version, we played Birthday by Underground Sunshine, the group that covered The Beatles classic in 1969. If you have a birthday coming up, let me know by sending your name, city and birthday date to michael@treasureislandoldies.com We'll play Birthday by The Beatles for you on the show.

Have a good week.

Bye for now.
