This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of July 7th, 2019

July 7th to July 13th, 2019

I really enjoy have a Spotlight Year on the show. This week it's 1969 and a really good year it was too! Playing Creedence Clearwater Revival, Wilbert Harrison, The Beatles, Joe Jeffrey Group, The Doors and so many other great artists, brought back such great memories. And it was great to share those memories real time with the folks in the Chat Room. You should check out and be part of the conversation during the live show every Sunday. Here's a tip for you. Start the live stream first at the Listen page and click on the Yare Player. It will open a new page with the player and just click Play. Then go to the previous tab on your browser and click Chat. Follow the simple instructions and voila, you'll be one of the Nuts in the Hut. I'd love to welcome you.

The next special is less than a month away. It's the annual Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders special, Live, Sunday August 4. It's your chance to hear your favourite instrumental hits gathered together into this one four hour special. There was a time when it was not unusual to hear many instrumental songs on the radio. Now instrumental hits are rare. This special highlights some of the best Instrumental Gems ever. Be sure to listen to what many listeners have told me is their favourite show of the year.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Linda Guy in La Habra, California. And I'd like to wish my son, David Godin, a very Happy Birthday this week. If your birthday's coming up soon, I'd like to help you celebrate it on the show. Send the month and date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

Voice Your Choice spotlights the British Invasion group, Manfred Mann. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either The Mighty Quinn (Quinn The Eskimo) or Pretty Flamingo. I'll play the winner during next week's show.

This week the Top Five Countdown is from 1969. The Number One song is by Zager & Evans. Windy is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.
