This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of July 21st, 2019

July 21st to July 27th, 2019

We had a double theme to this week's show. First, our Spotlight Year was 1971. In addition, we commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing in 1969 by playing some very Lunar Tunes. I had such fun playing Moondance, Come Fly With Me, Mr. Moonlight, Mr. Spaceman, Moonlight Feels Right, Everyone's Gone To The Moon, Dancing In The Moonlight, and so many more great Moon Tunes. For the complete list of all songs I played during this week's show, go to the Listen page and scroll down to the Playlist.

We're getting closer and closer to the next special. It's the annual Instrumental Gems Wordless Wonders special, Live, Sunday August 4. This special will highlight some of the best Instrumental Gems ever. Be sure to listen to what many listeners have told me throughout the years is their favourite show of the year.

Is your birthday coming up soon? If it is, I'd like to help you celebrate it on the show. Send the month and date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the air and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

Voice Your Choice spotlights R&B singer, Barbara Lewis. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Baby I'm Yours or Make Me Your Baby. I'll play the winner during next week's show.

This week the Top Five Countdown is from 1971. The Number One song is by The Raiders, and it became the biggest selling 45 for Columbia Records for nearly a decade! Indian Reservation (The Lament Of The Cherokee Reservation Indian) is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

See you next week on The Island! Bye for now.
