April 1st to 7th, 2018
It was no April Fool's Day joke; we had a fun-filled four hours of great music once again on this week's show. And this week we spotlighted the year 1964 throughout the show, including this week's historic Top Five Countdown. Never before or since has one artist or group held all five positions in the top five. The Beatles ruled. And so many other recording artists had smash hits in 1964. I was pleased to play The Zombies, the Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Diane Renay, Dave Clark Five, the Angels, Major Lance and so many more great artists.
As a preview of what to expect in two weeks for The Name Game Special, I played Farmer John by The Premiers, Ringo's Theme (This Boy) by The Beatles producer, George Martin, and Long Tall Sally by both Little Richard and The Beatles. So you get an idea of what to expect for the special; every song with have someone's name in the song title. The special will air live Sunday, April 15th starting at 6 pm Pacific time, and at various times throughout the week on the Broadcast Partners Network affiliate stations. Be sure to include the date in your calendar.
I'd like to wish Happy Birthday to Ineyda Velasquez in Dade City, Florida. Is your birthday coming up soon? If so, please me know by sending the date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.
The Top Five Countdown this week is from 1964, this week's Spotlight Year, and what a historic countdown. The Number One song is by The Beatles. Can't Buy Me Love is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Treasure Island Oldies Blog.
Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents Chad & Jeremy. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either Willow Weep For Me or Yesterday's Gone. I'll play the winner on next week's show.
Listen to this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.
Have a great week.
Bye for now.
