This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of April 8, 2018

April 8th to 14th, 2018
I had a great time once again this week with you, both on the air as well as in the Chat Room. We had a great turnout this week and it was so nice to welcome back and visit with friends including Sean in  Louisville, Kentucky, and Fay and Matt in Langley, British Columbia. I wanted to make mention of one of our recent new regulars, Bill in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bill is a nurse and was on duty the night the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team had the horrific bus crash resulting in 15 deaths. Bill and many others devote their lives to helping others. Thank you Bill! And out hearts go out to the families affected by this tragedy.

This week we spotlighted the year 1968 and featured many songs from that year by The Equals, The Foundations, The Impressions, Cowsills, and many more, including the Top Five Countdown. It was also cool to play the Vinyl 45 of the week, Rit It Up by Little Richard. I actually played it from a 45 EP or Extended Play, with two songs per side. I'm really enjoying playing vinyl live on the show. Just like the old days! :-)

Next week is our annual Name Game Special, with people's names in the song titles. Be sure to have a listen, and these names will be like visiting with old friends once again. The special airs live next Sunday, April 15th starting at 6 pm Pacific time, and at various times throughout the week on the Broadcast Partners Network affiliate stations. Speaking of affiliate stations, I am pleased to welcome MCBVI, Michigan Counsel Of The Blind And Visually Impaired, to the Broadcast Partners Network. MCBVI will air the show Sundays at 3 pm Eastern. Be sure to check out their website at

Is your birthday coming up soon? If so, please me know by sending the date to I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

The Top Five Countdown this week is from 1968, this week's Spotlight Year. The Number One song, quite the tear-jerker, is by Bobby Goldsboro. Honey is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Next week on Treasure Island Oldies, Voice Your Choice presents Don and Phil, the Everly Brothers. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either This Little Girl Of Mine or Ebony Eyes. I'll play the winner on next week's show.

Listen to this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.

Have a great week.

Bye for now.
