This Week on Treasure Island Oldies - Week of April 15th, 2018

April 15th to 28th, 2018
Have you ever heard so many names mentioned in a single four hour period!! We sure had our share on this week's Name Game Special. If this was you, you heard your song: Danny, Loreli, Carol, Norman, Terry, Mary, Randy, Ruby, Mary Lou, Jack, Shirley, and so many others. To find out all the names I played on the show, go to the Listen page and scroll down to the Playlist.

As this week's Spotlight Year was 1959, I was pleased to be able to include some name songs from that year, as part of the special.  Some of the names included Charlie, Margie, Mona Lisa, Lee, and Frankie, The Vinyl 45 of the week, was Sheila by Tommy Roe, sounding so good in vinyl.

Our next special will be a milestone, not just for the show but for online and terrestrial radio. Join me Sunday May 6th for the Treasure Island Oldies 21st Anniversary Special. This special will mark one of the longest running weekly radio shows in the world.  And check out the cool video promo billboard created by Eddy Fisher, our webmaster. WOW, thanks Eddy!

I am pleased to welcome yet another new station to the Treasure Island Oldies Broadcast Partners Network. A big hello to GCR Global Community Radio! Based in Geneva, New York, you'll be able to listen to the latest show every Friday from 6 to 10 am Eastern time. This is great!

Is your birthday coming up soon? If so, please me know by sending the date to birthdays@treasureislandoldies.com. I'll wish you Happy Birthday on the show and also play Birthday by The Beatles for you.

The Top Five Countdown this week is from 1959, this week's Spotlight Year. The Number One song is by The Fleetwoods: Gretchen, Gary and Barbara. Come Softly To Me is playing at the Treasure Island Oldies Treasure Island Oldies Blog.

Voice Your Choice will return April 29th with B.J. Thomas. Cast your vote at the Voice Your Choice page for either I Just Can't Help Believing or (Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song. I'll play the winner on the April 29th show.

Listen to this week's Rock and Roll News Podcast.

In closing for this week, I wanted to let you know I am taking a vacation and there will be no live show next week. However, please go to the Listen page and there will be a replay of the show from April 23, 2017 for your enjoyment. And the Chat Room will also be open as usual. I'll be back in time for the next live show, Sunday, April 29th.

Bye for now.
Michael
